12-Week Music Course

This 12-week program combines emotional wellbeing with creative expression, guiding young people through mindfulness, emotional regulation, communication skills, and personal growth — all through the power of music. Every week builds toward writing, recording, and performing an original track that reflects their journey.

Week 1

We identify personal goals and explore what the student wants to achieve creatively and emotionally. This week builds excitement, direction, and a clear plan for the next 12 weeks.

week 2

Students learn how music can calm the mind and balance emotion with logic. They create a simple, calming soundscape that becomes a grounding tool for the whole course.

week 3

We explore how different emotions can be expressed through rhythm, melody, and sound. Students build emotional vocabulary and start recognising how feelings show up in music and life.

week 4

This week focuses on understanding the body’s responses to stress and emotion through movement and rhythm. Students practice DBT TIPP skills using percussion and breath-based musical activities.

week 5

Students learn how to shift moods and behaviours by creating music that reflects courage, connection, or confidence. They write lyrics that challenge avoidance and build empowerment.

week 6

We work on identifying unhelpful thoughts and turning them into balanced, empowering perspectives. Students write verses that reflect struggle and choruses that express clarity and strength.

week 7

Students build a personalised “Audio Soothe Kit” using sounds that calm and regulate emotions. They also create a 5-senses soundscape that becomes a tool for managing overwhelm.

week 8

We explore how lifestyle choices affect emotional wellbeing and creative motivation. Students build a “Morning Groove” to support daily structure and healthy routines.

week 9

This week develops communication skills through songwriting and collaboration. Students practice assertiveness, empathy, and self-respect within creative partnerships.

week 10

Students learn how to prepare for challenges using music as a rehearsal tool. They create a plan for handling stress, performance nerves, and emotional overwhelm.

week 11

All skills learned so far come together into one final creative piece. Students rehearse, refine, and strengthen their original song or performance.

week 12

Students record or perform their final track to celebrate their journey. Together, we reflect on progress, growth, and the emotional tools they’ve gained.
